I’m running a FREE one-month lockdown challenge in the Cherished Muslimah Sisterhood Facebook Group starting TODAY! I hope you will join me!
Do Less and Blossom
I’m reading a book called Do Less by Kate Northrup – in a nutshell, it helps women to connect to their natural cycles, and tap into their inner energy sources depending on what season of their cycle they are on. I love this book as it aligns so much with my book, The Four Traits of a Cherished Muslimah. The four traits of leadership, love, justice and wisdom also are aligned with the four seasons, so this book really speaks my language!
This month on my year-long course, Cherished Seasons, we are cultivating the habit of Self-Discipline, and restoring balance in our leadership trait – women tend to gravitate towards two main categories of imbalance – women who do too much, and women who do too little… which one is your go-to balance?!
Take off your badge of honour of being busy all the time
It’s funny how in today’s age, we focus on doing more when often we need to do less! The beauty of this book is that it shows women how we can do less to have more.
How we can honour our bodies.
How we can honour the feminine in our bodies.
How we can honour the season our body is in.
Get in touch with your body
We have become so out of touch with our bodies, yet nature and the moon show us how the cycle perfectly, and we can too if we trust ourselves, our bodies, and the process!
Have you noticed how the seasons in nature work perfectly?
We start with spring, with new growth – every year!
The trees and flowers come to the height of their growth and fruition in the summer, without fail.
Every autumn, the leaves fall off the trees, and the growth starts to wind down to prepare for the winter
Each winter brings with it a closure, a time to rest and be still, to not grow and rest. And with it, it brings the promise of a new spring, which returns, without fail! Alhamdulillah, what a beautiful cycle – so rich in its lessons!
‘You sometimes see the earth lifeless, yet when We send down water it stirs and swells and produces every kind of joyous growth.’
Al Hajj (22:5)
And then what about the moon! Did you ever notice that she goes through the same cycle?
Every month starts with darkness, a new moon, filling the night sky for darkness, and a time to go inward.
She starts to wax, and build up the light she shines on the world, allowing the land to start afresh and come out.
And then, in her splendour, she is a full moon – glowing, radiant and shining her light on everyone! Allowing the world to bask in her glow.
Finally, she begins to retreat and wane, allowing the world to draw things together, encouraging them to go inwards before she finally goes into darkness herself, once again.
And He has constrained the night and the day and the sun and the moon to be of service unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Verily, in these are signs for people who understand
Surah An-Nahl (16:12)
And women are no different (nor are men, but more on that in the Sisterhood!). We follow the same cycle, the same pattern… our bodies rest, then emerge, we peak and then gather… only to rest again. Yet how many of us are focused on being at our peak all the time?
How many of us want to blossom without a break?
How many of us want continuous the fruits of our labour?
Let’s honour our seasons and cyclic nature. Let’s honour our need to rest when that is what our body needs so that we can emerge with power and beauty when our design encourages that.
Let’s do this together
I’m going to be live in the Cherished Muslimah Sisterhood every Monday and Thursday from 2 pm-2:30 pm (London) until 2nd December, going through Katie’s 14 experiments on doing less. The UK started the second lockdown today. Let’s use this time to retreat to really go inward and honour our bodies and energy so that we can emerge from the lockdown in December, insha’Allah, more connected, more aware, more replenished and…. more fulfilled and complete.
Let’s do this together, come and join me, I’m excited about seeing the effect it will on my own life and on all the sisters that join me!
